PROTON TO LAUNCH TWO-SEATER LOTUS-LIKE SPORTS CAR WITHIN TWO YEARS

Proton Lekir Concept
A two-seater Lotus-like sports car will arrive within two years, complementing the sporty Satria NeoProton’s model range. This piece of information comes from Dr Badrulhisham Mohd Ghazali, Corporate Planning General Manager of Proton, who revealed to thestar three-door hatchback already in newspaper at the ongoing Proton Carnival that the sports car is in its planning stages, requiring “a year or one and a half” before it will be ready for debut.
It sounds like the wishes of many Malaysians could be fulfilled with this Lotus-like sports car. If you recall, on display at the 2010 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS) is the Proton Lekir Concept, which is a Lotus Europa with Proton badges. The Europa has been rendered obsolete with the launch of the Evora, so Proton is said to be ready to offer the Europa, to be renamed and powered by Proton’s new turbocharged Campro engine, to the Malaysian public for less than RM 150K, a significant discount compared with the RM 300K pricing that the Europa used to command in Malaysia.
